10th September 2010

Dear Parents,

I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to be able to say to you:

The children have settled in quickly and I gain enormous pleasure from watching them enjoy the wonderful grounds in which our school lives and listening to them learning and laughing in the classrooms. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the enormous amount of hard work, happiness and tears that has gone into setting up the school and I know that it will now go from strength to strength.

The children have a wonderful time running and playing in the grounds but the English weather will continue to challenge us so could you please ensure that your child has a pair of blue wellington boots, named in large letters, in school at all times. This will enable the children to take a full part in all the opportunities available to them both indoors and outdoors.

We have already started to plan for the term ahead and these are the dates that are in our school diary:-

  • 1st October - Harvest Festival
  • 15th October - Open morning, 9.30 - 12.00. Come and see the children and teachers working and find out what goes on in school.
  • 11th and 13th October - Parents' consultations.1
  • 22nd October - Year 1 assembly. Parents are warmly invited to attend our school assembly and stay afterwards for refreshments.
  • 25th - 29th October - Half term. Playscheme will be available.
  • 19th November - Reception assembly. Parents are warmly invited to attend our school assembly and stay afterwards for refreshments.
  • 14th December - School nativity play. There will be a performance in the morning and the afternoon. Please feel free to attend either. Relatives and friends are also welcome.
  • 15th December - School Christmas lunch.
  • 17th December - End of term.

There will be further dates to add to your diary and you will be informed of these in due course.

We are in the process of setting up a texting service to communicate with parents. You will receive a text message from the school. Please reply to this to confirm your receipt of the message and this will complete the setup procedure.

A holiday Playscheme will run during half term and details of this will be sent to you shortly.

I am looking forward to watching the children develop and learn over the coming weeks and I know that we have found a happy home for our school here at Willingham House. I hope that you will feel able to contact me with any queries that you may have.

With best wishes,

Jackie Daire
